Power cage, rack with cables or all-in-one: which complete home gym set will you choose?

A complete set bundles a rack, a bench, an Olympic barbell and matching weight plates, with a single point of contact. There are three types:

  • Power cage set (€ 2,100). Free weights between four uprights, with a high and low cable attachment in 1:1 ratio. For example, the Martech M1 Gym bundle.
  • Rack with cable station (€ 3,700 to € 3,999). A half rack with two weight stacks for pulldowns, rows and flys. For example, the M8 2-in-1 Precision Bundle.
  • All-in-one with smith machine (€ 4,824 to € 5,999). Smith machine, half rack and cable station in a single frame, meaning three machines in one. For example, the M8 3-in-1 Performance Bundle or the M10 Bundle.

What should you look out for?

What is included in each set

Each set includes a 220 cm and 20 kg Olympic barbell, and an HD PRO barbell with the M10. You also receive bumper plates of 2 x 20, 2 x 15, 2 x 10, 2 x 5, 2 x 2.5, and 2 x 1.25 kg. The FID2000 in the M1 set adjusts from decline to nearly upright. The HD3000 Military in the M8 and M10 sets has a weight capacity of up to 450 kg.

Bundle or everything separately?

The difference between the standalone rack and the bundle is €800 for the M8 Precision, €749 for the M8 Twinratio, €825 for the M8 3-in-1, and €749 for the M10. Separately, an HD3000 Military bench costs €499 and a barbell with 107.5 kg of bumper plates costs €625, totaling €1,124. If you do not have a bench and weights yet, the bundle is therefore more advantageous.

Ceiling height

Measure the clearance height to the lowest beam, lamp, or garage door rail. The M1 set fits under the lowest ceiling. The M8 Precision rack is the highest, but is also available in a lower version upon request. If you perform pull-ups, allow for extra space above the bar, as your head will extend past it.

Cable ratio 1:1 or 2:1

At 1:1, you feel the exact weight of the stack. At 2:1, the stack feels half as heavy and you increase weight in increments of 2.5 kg instead of 5 kg. The Twinratio combines both, while the M10 features a lat pulley in 1:1 and a functional trainer in 2:1. More explanation can be found in 1:1 or 2:1: which cable ratio do you choose?

Floor

The M8 Precision and Twinratio bundle includes 4 Easyclean tiles measuring 100 x 100 x 2 cm with 24 connectors. That is 4 m², which is enough for the footprint of an M8 Precision rack measuring 175 x 125 cm. Additional rubber tiles are available starting from €44.95 per m².

Tip from the showroom: order additional tiles right away for the area around your bench and where you deadlift. This ensures the floor is installed correctly all at once, and nobody will need to move the rack later.

Which set for whom?

  • At home: the M1 set fits under a low ceiling in a basement or garage. The M8 and M10 sets replace a separate cable station, but require more height. See how we designed a gym in a garden house with an M8 3IN1 and a private fitness room in an outbuilding with an M14.
  • PT studio: an all-in-one saves floor space because your client does not need to switch machines. The M8 racks are tested up to 500 kg on J-cups and spotter arms. Read how The Centre of Body & Mind designed a 40 m² PT studio around a Martech M8 3IN1.
  • Physiotherapy practice: choose a set with a 2:1 cable, such as the Twinratio, for precise resistance adjustments. Read how The Hinge Kine equipped their practice with the M8.
  • Hotel and corporate gym: standard sets are rarely put together here, as the number of users and type of training determine the choice. We then create a custom proposal and also look into renting and leasing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you customize a complete set?

Yes, you can deviate from a standard set by choosing different weights, dumbbells, or a cardio machine. We will then assemble the set based on your space and goals.

Is the M10 worth the price difference compared to the M8?

Only if you pull heavy weights on the cables: the M10 has two 120 kg weight stacks instead of 90 kg. If you mainly train with free weights, an M8 will suffice.

Is 107.5 kg of weight plates enough?

For most athletes, yes: with the 20 kg barbell included, you can load up to 127.5 kg, which is more than enough for bench presses, overhead presses and rows. If you squat or deadlift heavier weights, you can expand later with additional weight plates.

How much space do you need for a complete home gym?

Count on 8 to 12 m² for a basic setup with a rack, bench and a cardio machine, and 15 to 25 m² for an extensive home gym with a cable station and dumbbells. With a free 3D design of your space, you can see in advance what fits.

How is a complete set delivered and installed?

Delivery is free within the Benelux region, and the rack, bench and plates arrive in parts, so a narrow staircase or garage door is not an issue. Our own team handles on-site assembly for € 75 to approximately € 350 per machine, including the removal of packaging materials. For a complete gym with flooring, tracks and mirrors, you can expect 10 to 15% of the total interior setup cost.

What warranty do you get on a complete set?

You receive a 3-year warranty on Martech products, and a lifetime warranty on the frame. Fitnessdepot is the exclusive distributor of Martech in the Benelux region, and you benefit from a 30-day trial period.

Can I see the sets in person first?

Yes, the M8 and M10 racks are on display in Ranst. You are welcome to walk in freely from Monday to Thursday between 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or you can schedule an appointment.
