Product description
The Concept2 RowErg has been the global standard in indoor rowing for over 40 years, the machine used by Olympic rowers, CrossFit boxes for their WODs, and physiotherapy practices for rehabilitation. It combines American precision engineering with the PM5 Performance Monitor, which is the industry benchmark, and reliability that lasts for decades in both a homegym and a commercial environment.
The RowErg operates on air resistance via a fan flywheel: the harder you pull, the more air the fan moves, and the heavier the resistance becomes. There are no levels to set, your effort determines the intensity. This makes the load infinitely scalable: a beginner and a top athlete train on the same machine, with consistent, measurable resistance ideal for progress tracking. During every stroke, you also activate approximately 86% of your muscles; legs, core, back, arms, and shoulders work together, making rowing a full-body workout.
On the side of the flywheel housing is a 10-position damper. This regulates how much air enters the flywheel per stroke and works like gears on a bicycle: a low setting (1–3) feels lighter and faster, ideal for technique and endurance training, while a high setting (7–10) feels heavier for explosive, strength-focused pulls. Most rowers train in the middle range. The damper thus adjusts the rowing feel without changing the actual load.
At the top is the PM5 Performance Monitor, the same monitor as on the SkiErg and BikeErg. It displays your pace, watts, distance, calories, strokes per minute, and heart rate in real time, and offers preset workouts, games, and a "Just Row" mode. You can visually track your stroke power via the force curve, race against a virtual boat with the pace boat, or compete live against other Concept2 users in the same room. Via Bluetooth Smart and ANT+, you can connect heart rate straps and apps, and with the free ErgData app, your sessions are automatically synchronized with the Concept2 Online Logbook, including rankings, challenges, and integration with Strava, Kinomap, and other apps. The PM5 runs on two D-cell batteries in standby and is powered by the flywheel itself during your workout, so you do not need a wall outlet or cables.
The RowErg uses a nickel-plated steel chain that is stronger and more durable than the belts or ropes on cheaper rowing machines. This chain runs in an aluminum I-beam monorail with a stainless steel track, ensuring a consistent, smooth movement year after year. The ergonomic handles remain comfortable during long sessions, and the flex-foot footrests can be quickly adjusted to any foot size.
Because the movement is smooth and continuous, the RowErg places minimal strain on your joints. This makes it suitable for post-injury recovery, older athletes, or users with joint complaints who are looking for an alternative to the treadmill, as well as anyone from beginner to elite athlete.
Despite its size during use (± 244 × 61 cm), the RowErg is easy to store: pull a pin and the machine splits into two parts that fit upright against the wall. The transport wheels allow you to move it without lifting, and an optional wall mount is available separately for maximum space savings.
The RowErg is available with standard legs (36 cm seat height, the most popular version, suitable for every size) or with optional tall legs (51 cm seat height, ideal for tall users, older athletes, or anyone looking to get on and off more easily). A longer monorail is also available upon request, please contact us for details.
Suitable for: commercial gyms, CrossFit boxes, physiotherapy and rehabilitation practices, military training, and serious home athletes who want a rowing machine that will last for generations.
