Martech M8 or M10: which rack suits you best?
Written by Thibaud Martens, fitness advisor at Fitnessdepot
The main difference between the Martech M8 and the Martech M10 is the weight stack: the M10 features two 120 kg stacks and standardly combines a smith machine, a 1:1 lat pulley, and a 2:1 functional trainer, whereas the M8 series uses 2 x 90 kg (or 2 x 100 kg on the M8 2.0) and allows you to choose your cable configuration and whether you want a smith machine. An M8 rack starts at € 2,900, while the Martech M10 costs € 5,250.
Fitnessdepot is the exclusive distributor of Martech Europe in the Benelux, and we install both racks with our own installation team. They are displayed side by side in our showroom in Ranst. This is what we tell customers when they are in doubt.

The M8: one platform, multiple versions
The M8 is not just a single piece of equipment, but a series. All versions share the 3 mm steel frame with 75 x 75 mm uprights, J-hooks and spotter arms tested up to 500 kg, and a cable station with aluminum pulleys. The difference lies in the cable system and the smith machine:
- M8 2IN1 Precision (€ 2,900): 180° swiveling cable arms, 1:1 cable ratio, 2 x 90 kg.
- M8 2IN1 Twinratio (€ 3,250): 4 pulleys, switching between 1:1 and 2:1, 2 x 90 kg.
- M8 2.0 Ace Cable Rack (€ 3,750): 2 x 100 kg center stacks, 6 cable points, 180° swing arms in 2:1 and center pulleys up to 1:1.
- M8 3IN1 Performance (€ 3,999): with smith machine (20 kg Olympic barbell, load capacity 318 kg), 2 x 90 kg.
- M8 2.0 Ace Smith Rack (€ 4,750): the 2.0 Ace with an integrated smith machine.
On the 2IN1 versions, you can expand the stacks up to 110 kg using an expander pin.
The M10: the flagship
The M10 combines everything into a single frame: smith machine, half rack, 4-way functional trainer, lat pulley, low row, leg press, pull-up, and dip station. The major difference is the 2 x 120 kg weight stack. In addition, the 1:1 lat pulley hangs high enough for a full stretch at the top, and the functional trainer operates at 2:1, allowing you to build up in smaller increments during isolation exercises. The unit weighs approximately 550 kg and measures 165 x 125 x 235 cm (L x W x H).
Even the finish is a step up: stainless steel at the front, laser-cut side panels featuring the Martech logo, and a pegboard with weight pins at the back for your plates.
When is 2 x 90 kg not enough?
For most home athletes, 90 kg per stack is more than enough. In practice, things get tight with two exercises: heavy lat pulldowns and seated rows, where trained athletes pull 90 kg or more. With a 1:1 system on the M8, you reach the maximum (or 110 kg with an expander). On the M10, you have 120 kg in a 1:1 ratio on the lat pulley. If you have been training for years and are already pulling heavy weights, that is the reason to upgrade to the M10.
What we observe during installations
- Ceiling height: the M8 is 228 to 239.9 cm high depending on the version, and the M10 is 235 cm high. For pull-ups, you need extra space above the bar for your head. A lower version of the Precision is available; please ask us if your ceiling is low.
- Floor: weighing from 375 kg (M8 2IN1) to around 550 kg (M10) plus weight plates, a sturdy surface is required. This is not a problem on a standard concrete floor with rubber tiles, but we will check wooden upper floors in advance.
- Access: the racks are delivered in sections. The packaging of the Precision is 240 cm long, and the 2.0 Ace packaging is 235.7 cm long. A straight hallway or garage door makes installation a lot easier.
Pricing: how much does a Martech M8 or M10 cost?
A Martech M8 rack costs between € 2,900 and € 4,750, and an M10 rack costs € 5,250. Bundles (including rack, bench, barbell, and plates) come out to the following:
- M8 2IN1 Precision Bundle: € 3,700
- M8 2IN1 Twinratio bundle: € 3,999
- M8 3IN1 Performance Bundle: € 4,824
- M10 Bundle with barbell set, bench, and rack: € 5,999
In addition to the rack, the M10 bundle includes an HD3000 Military Bench with leg curl, a 20 kg HD PRO barbell, and a 107.5 kg bumper plate set.
Which one should you choose?
- You are starting a home gym and primarily want free weights plus cables: choose an M8 2IN1 (Precision or Twinratio). You get a full-fledged rack supporting up to 500 kg and a cable station for less than half the price of an M10.
- You want a Smith machine but your budget is limited: choose the M8 3IN1 Performance or the M8 2.0 Ace Smith.
- You have been training heavily for years and 90 kg on the cable is too light: choose the M10 with 2 x 120 kg.
- You are setting up a corporate gym, hotel gym, or PT studio where multiple people train: the M10 offers the widest range of exercises in a single frame and has the most polished finish.
